Shows are the heart of our hobby
I sit at the Alsager Model Railway Show pondering the RAILstuff show season drawing to a close and am having a few moments to think back on all the events that I have attended this year and especially in the last few months. The overriding thought in my mind is just how much the model shows are a critical part of our hobby, and crucial not only to the here and now, but also the future. So here's a blog I've agonised over writing or indeed how to write it... Before I say anything, let me make something really crystal clear - I love model shops... there's nothing quite like walking in and spending ages having a really good look around, getting ideas, picking bits up, getting advice. If you have a good local model shop then please support them. My love for these shops is also one of the reasons that I don't stock and sell locos and rolling stock - they are much better placed to do that and deserve the support. But... just...

The London Festival of Railway Modelling 2022 A week or so on from our debut at Alexandra Palace and now seems like a good time to talk about the show from a trader's point of view. Arriving on the Friday to set-up I have to say the organisation of the unloading and how simple it was for exhibitors was way beyond our expectations - we were able to drive in to the hall, unload, and then move the van before starting the set-up proper.
