New locomotives and rolling stock rarely stay spotless on the real railway, so we’ve created the RAILstuff Locomotive & Rolling Stock Weathering Starter Kit as a straightforward introduction to adding realistic dirt, soot, rust and age to your models.
Rather than simply grouping together four random weathering colours, we’ve selected a combination of MIG Ammo washes and pigments that can work together across a wide variety of railway models.
The kit includes:
- MIGR2301 Ballast Dust Pigment - a useful dusty, earthy tone for lower bodywork, bogies, underframes and areas affected by track dirt
- MIGR2005 Soot Black Wash - ideal for adding soot, dark grime and definition around vents, exhaust areas and recessed details
- MIGR2004 Aged Wash - adds subtle dirt and age to surfaces and helps bring out moulded and recessed detail
- MIGR2303 Deep Rust Pigment - provides a stronger rust tone for underframes, running gear and heavily weathered details
Use them lightly for subtle everyday grime or build up multiple effects to create locomotives and wagons that have clearly earned their keep.
The kit is suitable for weathering diesel and steam locomotives, coaches, wagons and other railway rolling stock, across OO, N, TT120, O gauge and other modelling scales.
Everything comes packed together at RAILstuff HQ in our cardboard presentation tube, giving you a simple collection of core weathering products without having to choose them individually.
