The AMMO LOCK 'N LOAD Rechargeable Technical Pencil is a reusable weathering tool designed to give modellers precise control when creating scratches, wear, metallic highlights and other fine weathering effects.

The pencil comes supplied with a Gun Metal watercolour lead, making it particularly useful for recreating polished or exposed metal. On model railways, this makes it ideal for adding wear to buffers, couplings, steps, handrails, wagon edges, locomotive details and other areas where repeated use would expose the metal beneath the paint.

Application is straightforward. Draw the effect directly onto the model and then soften or blend it using a brush dampened with water. Alternatively, the lead itself can be dampened before application. If you're unhappy with the result, the water-soluble colour can be removed and adjusted with water. AMMO recommends applying LOCK 'N LOAD colours over a matt surface for the best grip.

The pencil is rechargeable, allowing different LOCK 'N LOAD colour leads to be fitted rather than requiring a separate pencil for every effect. It also incorporates a sharpener, while the lead can be further shaped using coarse sandpaper when a particular point or edge is required.
