Expand your LOCK 'N LOAD system with the AMMO Effects Colors Set, containing six watercolour leads designed for use with the LOCK 'N LOAD rechargeable technical pencil.
Where the Weathering Colors set focuses primarily on rust, grime and chipping, this Effects Colors set provides a broader selection for creating fading, highlights, shadows, soot and exposed metal effects.
For model railway weathering, the colours are particularly useful for adding soot around locomotive exhausts and chimneys, highlighting raised details, creating faded paintwork, adding shadows and picking out areas of exposed or polished metal on locomotives, rolling stock, buildings and trackside equipment.
The leads can be sharpened to a fine or broad point depending on the effect required. Apply them directly to a matt surface and then blend with a damp brush, or wet the lead before application. As they're water-soluble, the effect can easily be adjusted or removed with water. If further wet weathering is going to be applied over the top, AMMO recommends protecting the pencil effects first with a thin coat of varnish.
